So… after re-reading my last post, I feel the need to take it and flip it on its head because I just read a few blog posts here that really got me to thinking that I need to be more positive (and/or visualize my success). I can hear your gasps of disbelief from here, stop that! Ha. So yes, I need to be positive because I think good things come to those who believe in themselves and are positive. And having a negative terrible attitude just really…doesn’t help!
So what is to follow is probably going to sound…like self promotion or giving myself a lovely pat on the back, but I actually sort of need this. Because I need to be reminded of all the things I’ve accomplished so that I will appreciate myself and feel proud of what I’ve done and know that I can achieve what I want to achieve.
Things I’ve succeeded at in the last 5 years:
- Planned and executed a wedding (that sounds so cold!) Ok, I married my honey in my way…
- Started writing a novel 3 years ago, just 2 months after I stopped taking my anti-anxiety meds. The creative girl was back. And she’s been hard won, because I’m still dealing with my anxiety
- Completed two certificate programs: Web Development and Graphic Design
- Applied for and obtained 2 grants to pay for these programs
- Even though I’ve always hated running, I learned to enjoy it even though I can’t run far.
- I successfully designed wedding invitations, biz cards, logos, product packaging and my own book cover (all outside of my normal day to day job)
- I purchased a piece of foreclosed property (with the hubs), and arranged with the fire department to burn down the house that was on the land
- I sought/obtained and then created a budget of everything we’d need to build our own house, submitted said information to the bank along with loan application for construction loan
- Hauled a shit ton of brush and I HATE hauling brush especially during black fly season
- Planted over 100 trees in the last snow storm of the season
- Coordinated the excavation and pouring of cement for our basement
- Tarred the basement, hung foam, framed the entire house except for the trusses with my husband and parents.
- Found/hired contractors to complete other tasks
- Completed all the wiring, interior walls, light fixtures, painting, door hanging, trim, kitchen cabinets and appliances, bathroom fixtures, porch, deck, wood floors, etc.
- Worked my butt off every weekend for a year and a half
- Coordinated all budgeting concerns for the house project
- Kept the project on task/on time
- Moved from our apartment to our new house
- All the while, I was working on my novel
- After we moved in, I decided I wanted to publish, so spent the fall editing, having a photoshoot and doing cover design while we finished up projects for the house
- Published my first novel on Amazon, designed the cover, formatted the book etc. This was all me Baby!
- Started a blog
- Started writing a second novel
- Started Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Goodreads etc accounts
- Currently marketing my own book
- Applied for and was hired for a new job last spring
- Had a successful “free” day on Amazon

I want to:
- Somehow get a Book Trailer made
- Work harder/smarter to promote my book
- Try another free day
- Write and publish my second novel
- Create book covers for other authors
- Continue to create custom wedding invites, biz cards etc.
- Use my new knowledge of marketing to get a job in social media marketing or graphic design
Lookeeee Goals! Things I’ve accomplished! Wowweeeee! I can’t believe it, because when you actually list your accomplishments it really makes you realize that you can do SO much if you set your mind to it. So…I am going to visualize my success and I’m going to work toward it and eventually I will get there. I am positive of it. Thanks for listening to another of my therapy sessions! It means the world to me. 🙂
Now go out and make your own list of all the things you’ve accomplished. You will truly be surprised at what you can and have done. And you can do so much more because odds are you never thought you could accomplish all the things you already have. Yea Optimism!

Step right up, it’s about to get crazy in the hizzy
